Sources of Information for Oklahoma Entities

While thousands of corporations have gone bankrupt or been dissolved throughout the years, corporations disappear for
other reasons, too... The resources below can be very helpful when researching old stock certificates. In addition to these,
the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's Old
Stock & Bond Certificates page can provide additional resources.

SOONERAccess,
(www.sos.state.ok.us/sooneraccess_news.htm),
is now available to check
certain records of the Oklahoma Secretary of State for business entity
and service agent, trademark, and notary public information online at
no charge. Computer terminals are available to the public at the
Secretary of State's office during normal business hours [8 a.m.-5
p.m.] to search the same records at no charge. Most of the other
services provided by the Secretary of State's Office are also now
available online but are fee based. A fee schedule is provided for
specific service fees.
The following information is available through a search:
- Correct name
- Status
- Registered [service] agent
- Registered Office
- Date of Registration
- Authorized Capital
- State of Domicile
- Incorporators (if a corporation)
- Amendments to the formation of the entity
Information regarding corporations, limited
partnerships, limited liability companies (LLC), and limited liability
partnerships (LLP) is also available by telephone (900) 733-2424. However,
there is a $5.00 charge per call and each call is limited to three
searches, with one company per search. You
can charge the fee to a Discover card by calling (405) 522-4582; a
staff person will assist you.
You can obtain written copies of search documents, for a $5.00 charge per company, in person or by
written request to:

To obtain a list of corporate officers, first
obtain the federal tax ID number or the Oklahoma Secretary of State
filing/key number. Then call the
Oklahoma Tax Commission at (405)
521-3160. Upon accessing the automated system, select option 0 to
reach a taxpayer service representative. If retrieval is complicated, the response may take up
to 24 hours. Currently this information cannot be accessed through the
Internet. There is no fee for these services.

You or your representative must come in person to check the records. The fee
for copies is $1/page and, if desired, $1 to certify the entire
document. You may contract for a title or abstract company to
perform a search.

This office will not help with securities questions per se.
However, they can tell you how to find out if an operator is
licensed to drill, if a drilling permit has been obtained for a
specific location, etc.
